Laredo, Texas – (May 9, 2018) –Laredo Chamber of Commerce leaders officially announced their latest accreditation status at an announcement and unveiling event held at El Portal Downtown.

The United States Chamber of Commerce awarded the Laredo Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community, at its Spring Board meeting held recently.

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. To receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete.

“We are elated to have received this designation,” stated Laredo Chamber CEO Miguel Conchas. “Simply being accredited by the U.S. Chamber is a badge that assures our members that they form part of a responsible, efficiently-run organization. Accreditation with a 5-star rating is like putting a diamond on that badge,” he added. Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

Of the 7,000 chambers nationwide, only 200 of them are accredited. These elite chambers represent the top 3% of all chambers in the United States. In Texas, the Laredo Chamber is 1 of 15 with a 5-Star distinction.
