LAREDO, TX, (January 23, 2013) – The Laredo Chamber of Commerce recognized Laredoan Lauren N. Guzman, Miss Texas 2014 with the first-ever “Orgullo” Award at a cocktail reception held Wednesday, January 22nd at the Embassy Suites. Javier Moctezuma, chairman of the Board for the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, recognized Lauren’s accomplishments and presented her with the prestigious award behalf of the Board of Directors. Chamber President/CEO Miguel Conchas accompanied Moctezuma in making the official presentation. “It is only proper that we recognize individuals that put Laredo on the map. Lauren is certainly well deserving of this recognition,” said Conchas.
The Laredo Chamber of Commerce “Orgullo” Award praise local members of our community whose accomplishments contribute to proudly represent our city in other regions. “I’m honored to represent Laredo and excited to bring back the crown to our city”, said Guzman.
Lauren is a graduate of J.B. Alexander High School. She earned a Degree in Forensic Science from St. Mary’s University. In 2008, Lauren was crowned Miss Texas Teen when she was 16. After competing in Miss Texas USA for four years, she was selected as Miss Texas 2014 on September 2013; competing against more than 100 contestants. She is the 5th Miss Texas to have won both the Miss Texas Teen and Miss Texas titles.
She is a member of the Quick Response Team of the Texas State Guard and received the Commander’s Recognition for exceptional duty performance and the Service Medal for honorable service in the military forces. She is a volunteer state military force which assists and augments Texas civil authorities in times of emergencies and an ongoing supporter of local communities.
She will represent Texas in the Miss USA 2014 pageant next summer in Las Vegas, NV.
