History

Established in 1915, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce is the oldest business organization in Laredo, Texas—located at the #1 commercial inland port on the United States–Mexico border.

Founded by local business leaders to promote economic growth, commerce, and civic collaboration, the Chamber has served as a unifying voice for the business community for more than a century. As Laredo evolved into a global trade and logistics hub, the Chamber evolved alongside it, supporting infrastructure development, cross-border trade, workforce initiatives, and policies that strengthen the regional economy. Today, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce represents more than 700 member businesses, including locally owned small businesses, financial institutions, retailers, transportation and logistics firms, and service providers across a wide range of industries.

The Chamber is a member-driven organization governed by volunteer leadership and supported by professional staff, with a long history of advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels. Through business education, leadership development programs, community partnerships, and signature events, the Chamber continues to advance opportunity and prosperity for the Laredo region.

The Laredo Chamber of Commerce holds a 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the highest distinction awarded to chambers nationwide, and is a proud member of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce, American Chamber of Commerce Executives, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

For more than 100 years, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce has remained committed to its core mission: supporting business, advocating for economic vitality, and strengthening the community it serves.
